Arvest Bank is partnering with First Thursday Fayetteville* for the Arvest Kids Zone in 2013. Held on the first Thursday of each month, March through October (excluding July), First Thursday Fayetteville transforms the city’s historic downtown square into a vibrant arts district featuring over 40 visual artists, live music, street performers, children’s activities, food and drink. The Arvest Kids Zone will feature a cake walk, fun craft activities and games on the Arvest Plaza. It’s a safe, family-friendly community event for people of all ages, free to the public and a lot of fun!

Here’s the First Thursday Fayetteville highlights for each month.

March 7: “That’s Some Pig” @ First Thursday In conjunction with the Ozark Literacy Council*, the very popular Pigshibition display will be coming to the event in the Porcine Parade. The band for the month will be Full House.

April 4:  “Cycle The Square” @ First Thursday The event partners in April will be the Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks* and the folks responsible for Fayetteville’s Earth Day celebration. The band for April will be Oreo Blue, a local blues band. 

May 2: “Fiesta First Thursday” The musical entertainment for the night will include: Latin American Ensemble, DJ Paparap, Balleta Folklorica, Zumba Social, and Calle Soul* (main stage band).

June 6:  “Corks & Canvases" @ First Thursday It’s the Black Music Month celebration. The band for the month will be Groovement*, a local funk rock band.

August 1:  “Schoolhouse Rocks” @ First Thursday The band will be Joe Giles & The Homewreckers*, a local band that plays at Bikes, Blues and BBQ, George’s, etc. 

September 5: “3rd Annual Fest of ALL” @ First Thursday Fest of ALL will bring entertainers from a diverse range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds to the downtown square. The band for the month is Boom Kinetic*, a popular local rock/alternative band.

October 3: “Oktoberfest” @ First Thursday Traditional Oktoberfest activities will end the season: a bratwurst eating contest, wiener dog races, German breed dog costume contest, pumpkin decorating, local craft beers and more. The Polkameisters*, a band specializing in polka and German folk music from Tulsa, will be performing.
